Zachariah Spencer Hamby was born January 10, 1878 and died May 01, 1944. He married (1) Sophronia “Phroney” Autrey in Yancey County. She was born September 22, 1879, and died February 17, 1917. One sister, Hattie Ellen Autrey, married Theodore “Big Thee” Westall. Another sister, Sally Autrey, married Zach’s brother Doug Hamby. He married (2) Anne Elizabeth Gibbs November 17, 1917 in Burnsville, daughter of Wash Gibbs and Bessie McDowell. She was born 1899 and died 1981.
