Phyllis Hamby was Zach Hamby’s second oldest daughter from his first marriage to Sophronia Autrey Hamby. Phyllis was still in high school when Phroney died, so she lived in Black Mountain with Lora and Harlan Reed and finished high school there. She married twice, the first time to Lloyd Reed, the second time to Guy Huskins. By all accounts Phyllis was an exceptional business woman, although she always regretted never having children. She and Guy bought and developed the Linville Falls Cafe and Cabins, now owned by one of Guy’s relatives.
